Movement

Understanding movement helps in understanding flexibility. If there is an imbalance dysfunction develops. Leading to decreased efficiency and overload. The desire is to remain in equilibrium through efficient control. Without structural integrity the body cannot satisfy its desires.

Inefficiencies in movement are altered lengths of the muscle tissues to one another. Activation of muscles and motion helps to understand the importance of flexibility and its corrective nature. Imbalance occurs when the length of the muscle tissues are uneven and one is stronger than the other. This is called an altered length-tension relationship. Numerous factors can create muscular imbalances.

Some common causes are:

  • Poor posture
  • Stress
  • Repetition
  • Trauma
  • Poor technique
  • Weak core
  • Muscular inefficiency
